The Berlin Academic Decathlon team has proudly secured 3rd place at the recent State Competition!
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Thomas McCarthy, a junior, for being awarded the prestigious Top Scholar award. This remarkable achievement reflects his dedication and hard work, and we are incredibly proud of all our students for their commitment to excellence.
Each year, the state-wide Academic Decathlon competition centers around a specific theme. This year's theme was "Our Changing Climate," and the competition took place at the Tundra Lodge in Green Bay. The event featured ten distinct competitions in which every team member participated. Students were tested across seven subject areas: Economics, Science, Math, Literature, Social Studies, Art, and Music. In addition to these subjects, they also composed an essay, delivered a speech, and participated in an interview. This year, the team engaged with a novel related to the theme, "Solar Storms" by Linda Hogan.
The team comprises nine members, categorized as follows: three Honors players (GPA of 3.80-4.00), three Scholastic players (GPA of 3.20-3.799), and three Varsity players (GPA of 0.00-3.199).
Outstanding job, BHS!
