The Berlin High School VEX Robotics team, affectionately known as "Birthday Boy," has once again showcased its impressive skills and teamwork by clinching the title of tournament champions. This thrilling achievement took place on Sunday, March 9th, at a State Scrimmage held in Appleton, where the team faced off against 14 other talented teams, all gearing up for the upcoming state competition.
The tournament was a vibrant display of innovation and strategy, with each team demonstrating their unique robot designs and programming capabilities. Among the standout performers were team members James Paskey and Tom Schumacher, who not only excelled in their matches but also emerged as the top contenders, securing the coveted 1st place ranking after the qualifying rounds. Their hard work and dedication paid off as they strategically selected "Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em" from Neenah High School to join them in an alliance. This strategic decision highlighted the importance of collaboration and teamwork in the competitive robotics arena.
In addition to the champions, the tournament also featured the impressive 2nd place alliance, which included the VHS Excelsior Valley Home Schoolers and a VEX-U college level team. Their performance was commendable, demonstrating the diverse talent present at the event.
Looking ahead, the BHS Robotics team is gearing up for the State Tournament, which will take place in Green Bay this Saturday, March 15th. The anticipation is palpable, and the team is eager to showcase their skills on a larger stage. As they prepare for this significant event, the Berlin community rallies behind them, offering support and encouragement.
